Let’s begin the fashion talk. After wrapping up fashion month I put together a series of my favourite shows. Starting with Paris, always my favourite because of the classiness of the city and the chicness and history behind all of the fashion houses showcasing their collections. I have to say it was hard bringing it down to 6 shows, I’m liking everything this season, but anyways, here you have my favourite ones.
Balmain has been my favourite fashion brand since I can recall. Ever since Olivier Rousteing took over the French house in 2012, I have followed every single show and always look forward to the next season. This Fall/Winter 2016 collection was inspired by French history and the woman’s body. Corsets dominated the runway, showing off the women’s figure and curves, pastel colours, fur, lace, see-through… were some of the major trends to swear by next winter.
Loewe was amazing. The brand has really had a 360º change since J.W: Anderson became the creative director, but this particular season stood out for me. I’m loving all of the drapped dresses and the emphasis on the waist with belts and corset-like pieces.
Louis Vuitton showed a really cool girl this season. Though and stylish, just what every girl wants. I’m really feeling the leather pants and really all of the cool shapes in every single outfit. What I really liked about this collection is that I can see myself wearing almost everything on a day to day basis, which is something that you don’t see on the runway all the time. Rocker vibes stood out for me and is definitely something I will be rocking next season.
I gotta hand it to Miuccia, this show was awesome. I am not really a Miu MIu fan, the shows never really catch my attention which is why I was so mesmerized this season. Absolutely loved everything I saw, especially the shoes and the tapestry pieces. I will definitely keep an eye on the brand for next season.
When in Paris I have to admit I always look out for the classic brands, the old fashion houses, but for sure Ellery is one to keep an eye on. This is their second season showing in Paris and they are definitely making their way into the industry. The Australian brand is known for their tailored pieces and crazy sleeves and pants. Although their classic pieces such as bell-bottom pants and structured blazers made an appearance, we also saw a wide range of materials such as silk and lamé, which give the brand a touch of fresh air.
Another brand that really stood out to me was Jacquemus. I always like to see cool things that are out of my comfort zone because that makes me think and really inspires me. All of the structured and over-sized clothes were something that is not new to the runway, as other brands have shown similar things, but it was the way that it was put together that I found interesting and distinct. I must also point out the coolness of the ribbons that tied up many of the garments, great call.
